Dear Member:

As the Coronavirus continues to spread, many businesses and organizations are taking precautions to help protect the health and well-being of their employees, customers, and the community at large. Your cooperative is not different. We have closed our office to the public until further notice. Our line crews and service techs will continue to perform necessary jobs but are limiting face-to-face interaction as much as possible.

We understand that this major health concern may also cause hardship to you – and as your trusted energy partner, we want you to know that we are here for you. If you are experiencing difficulty as a result of this situation, please contact us at 800-352-0014 to speak with one of our representatives about options that may be available.

Members do not need to come to the office to pay on their account. There are many options available today. You can call us at 1-800-352-0014 and select Option 2 to pay by phone or pay in person using MoneyGram at Wal-Mart, CVS and Wegmans using receiver code 15145. These options, in addition to SmartHub payments, provide an almost real-time account update.

We’d also like to remind you that Northwestern REC also offers a digital-first model using SmartHub. You don’t need to leave the comfort and safety of your home to manage and monitor your electric account. You can complete almost all of your needs and transactions, from making a payment, to reporting a power outage, updating your automated payment options or even chatting with an employee via our website (, without putting yourself or others at risk. Just log into SmartHub on your computer or mobile device.

If you haven’t yet, please consider signing up for SmartHub today. To get started, simply visit our website or download the SmartHub app in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to use mobile account access. Visit to learn more about our digital options.

As always, thank you for being a Northwestern REC member and helping us keep you, our employees and communities safe.

Cooperatively yours,

Bill Buchanan

President & CEO
